Saran Wrap Nails

Screen Shot 2015-08-28 at 2.54.28 PM

Start of by applying a base coat. I used Sally Hansen’s “Double Duty Base and Top Coat”.

Then apply a base color of your choice. I chose Sinful Colors “Snow Me White”.

IMG_0059

After your base color has dried apply the second color of your choice right over the first color. Just like you would if you were painting the nail a full color. I used Essie’s “After School Boy Blazer”.

Next, take a small piece of saran wrap and make it into a ball. You can hold this with your hand or with “The Claw” sold at Sally Beauty Supply.

Then, while the polish you just applied is still wet, dab the saran wrap lightly on the nail 2-3 times. Don’t dab the nail too many times or else the saran wrap will start to pick up the first color.

After you are sure the polish has dried, apply a top coat. I used Sally Hansen’s “Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat”.

Lastly, clean up around the nails using a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover, and your manicure is complete!

Mermaid Scale Nails

IMG_0057

First off, apply a base coat. I used Sally Hansen’s “Double Duty Base and Top Coat”.

IMG_0047

For this design we are going to be doing a sponge gradient, so I applied a white base color to make the colors that I sponge on pop. I used Sinful Colors “Snow Me White”.

IMG_0048

Next, apply the four colors onto a makeup sponge. I used Jenna Hipp’s “Marshmallow Fondant”, “Pink Lady Finger”, “Tres Parfait”, and “Thin Mint”.

IMG_0049

Then sponge the colors onto your nails, simply by pressing the sponge down onto the nail and bringing it back up. Do this method quickly, so that the nail polish on the sponge doesn’t dry, and don’t sponge on too much. I did this process twice on each nail.

Next I applied a clear shimmery polish over all the nails, to blend the color and help give it that scale look. I used a Sally Hansen mini that I unfortunately do not have the name for.

IMG_0051

Now it is time to paint the scales. I used Apple Barrel’s “White” acrylic paint. To make the scales I used a detail brush and created c shapes.

Next, apply a top coat. I used Sally Hansen’s “Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat”.

After applying a top coat clean up around your nails using a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover and your mermaid scale nails are finished!

Triangle French Tip

Start off by applying a base coat. I used Sally Hansen’s “Double Duty Base and Top Coat”.

IMG_0039

Next apply a base color. I chose a metallic gold similar to the color on the purse. I used Essie’s “Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low”

IMG_0040

Next, create a diagonal line towards the tip of the nail. I used Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure “Almost Almond” and a thick striper brush. After creating the diagonal line, fill it in.

Then, do the same thing going in the opposite direction and overlapping the last step. I used Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure “Pink Pong” and using the same thick striper brush.

Finally, apply a top coat, I used Sally Hansen’s “Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat”.

Pineapple Nails

IMG_0038

Start off by applying a base coat of your choice. I used Sally Hansen’s “Double Duty Base and Top Coat”.

IMG_0030

Then, apply a base color of your choice. I chose a gray color, “Cream Soda” by Ciate.

IMG_0032

Once the base color dries it is time to start painting the pineapple shapes. The shape is similar to a rectangle with one side rounded off. I did this with a detail brush and Delta Creamcoat’s “Pale Yellow” acrylic paint.

IMG_0033

Now it is time to add some detail to the pineapple, using a slightly darker yellow and a thin striping brush paint diagonal lines going across the pineapple shape. I used Apple Barrel’s “Yellow” acrylic paint.

IMG_0034

Now the pineapples need some leaves. At the top of the rounded side, using a green color, paint curved lines going left and right. I used Craft Smart’s “Light Green” acrylic paint.

IMG_0035

Lastly, apply a top coat. I used Sally Hansen’s “Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat”.

Now your new pineapple manicure is finished!
