Start off with a base coat on all the nails. I used Sally Hansen’s “Double Duty Base and Top Coat”.
Next, apply a white polish to your thumb, pointer and pinky nail, black nail polish to the middle nail and a gold polish to the ring finger nail. For the white polish I used Sally Hansen’s “White On”, the black polish is Sinful Colors “Black on Black” and the gold polish is Revlon’s “Tempting”.
R2D2 (thumb):
Using a blue nail polish or acrylic paint and a liner brush, paint two half rectangles at the tip of the nail. I used Apple Barrel’s “Cobalt Blue”.
In the middle of the nail, paint a square that is thinner at the top and wider at the bottom.
At the bottom of the nail, paint a thick blue line.
In between the square and the line at the bottom, paint a small rectangle towards one side of the square.
On one side of that rectangle paint three tall rectangles getter larger the farther away from the rectangle.
Using a red nail polish or acrylic paint, place a small dot towards the opposite side in the small rectangle. I used a small dotting tool and Apple Barrel’s “Bright Red”.
Using a black nail polish or acrylic paint, place a small dot to the side of the rectangle and a large dot in the middle of the square. I used a small and large dotting tool and Apple Barrel’s “Black”.
R2D2 is finished!
New Stormtrooper (pointer finger):
Using a black nail polish or acrylic paint and a liner brush, paint a line towards the top of the nail.
Paint two rounded triangles coming from that line using the same materials from the last step.
This next step is a bit difficult to explain. From the sides of the triangles paint a curved line that ends a little bit before the bottom of the nail. Then connect those lines with a small wave or curved line.
On both sides of those lines, paint three small lines/dashes.
Using a small dotting tool, place a small dot below one set of lines.
The stormtrooper is finished!
Darth Vader (middle finger):
Using a gray polish or acrylic paint and a liner brush, paint two small curved lines coming from the top of the nail and two small curved lines coming from both sides of the lines. Almost shaped like eyebrow. I mixed Apple Barrel’s “Black” and “White” acrylic paint.
Directly below the two lines coming from the sides, paint two oval/almond shapes as eyes.
I added more black to the color mixture and painted a line in between the two lines and the eyes but it is very difficult to see on camera. Then place three gray dots outlining a triangle with a small dotting tool.
Connect the small dots with small lines using a liner brush.
Re paint the dots on the outside of the triangle and then paint three thin lines going vertically down the triangle.
Paint two small thin lines below the middle of the eyes. Then two curved lines coming up from the lower corners of the triangle and then two curved lines below the eyes.
Darth Vader is finished!
C3PO (ringer finger):
Using a large dotting tool and a dark yellow paint or polish, place two large dots towards the top of the nail. I mixed Apple Barrel’s “Yellow” acrylic paint and Delta Ceramcoat’s “Autumn Brown” acrylic paint. Also paint two lines going downward like the top of a triangle using a liner brush.
Using a small dotting tool and black polish or paint, place two small dots in the center of the dots previously created.
Using a thin striping brush and the same black color, paint a thin line going horizontally below the nose of C3PO.
On top of that line and towards the center, paint a small rectangle.
Using a liner brush outline the large yellow circles and paint three lines going vertically down the eyes.
C3PO is finished!
BB-8 (pinky finger):
Using a liner brush and black polish or paint, paint two lines going horizontally across the nail and towards the top of the nail.
Using the same gray from the Darth Vader nail and an orange color, paint thinner lines inside of those lines. The top one should be gray and the bottom one orange. I used Apple Barrel’s “Pumpkin Orange”acrylic paint.
Inside the gray line, using a thin striper brush paint small black lines going vertically in the line.
Using a liner brush paint a half circle with lines continuing downwards and a small square version of this next to it.
Place a small black dot inside of this shape on top of the orange line.
Place a small dot at the bottom of both shapes. Then, paint a line going across the bottom of both of them.
BB-8 is finished!
Apply a top coat over all the nails. I used Sally Hansen’s “Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat”.
Your Star Wars Nails are finished!
