Tropical Nails

IMG_20160327_232815

Start off with a base coat. I used Essie’s “Grow Stronger” base coat.

IMG_1736

Apply a white nail polish as the base color, I do this so that the ombre colors are more opaque, you could also paint the nails one of the ombre colors or paint half of the nail one color and the other half the other color. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear “White on”.

IMG_1739

On a makeup/cosmetic sponge, paint two nail polish colors parallel to each other and slightly overlapping. I used a Sephora mini that I do not have the name for and Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails “No Hard Feelings”.

IMG_1743

With the makeup sponge, sponge it on the nail with and up and down motion. I did this step twice after letting the first time dry. Don’t sponge too much at one time or you will end up picking up color rather than putting it down.

IMG_1741

With a thin striping brush and a black color, paint thin horizontal lines going across the nail. I used Winstonia’s “Fine Line” and Apple Barrel’s “Black” acrylic paint.

IMG_1746

To create the palm leaves, paint a slightly curved line going diagonally across most of the nails for the stem. Then, for the leaves, place the brush down, coming off the sides of the stem, and add less pressure going away from the stem. I used Winstonia’s “Short” brush and Essie’s “Trophy Wife”.

IMG_1748IMG_1749IMG_1750

With a darker color, slightly outline palm leaves. Do this by outlining only the bottom of each leaf and by painting a thinner line going down the stem.

IMG_1753

Lastly, apply top coat and clean up around the nails. I used Essie’s “Gel-Setter” top coat, a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover and the “Nail Polish Removal Pen” from the Born Pretty Store in order to clean up the nail polish closer to the nail and cuticle.

Spring Easter Nails

IMG_20160320_191132

Start off with a base coat. I used Essie’s “Grow Stronger” base coat.

IMG_1697

I applied Jenna Hipp’s “Marshmallow Fondant” to my ring finger nails and “Thin Mint” to the rest of my nails.

IMG_1700

Baby Chick Nail:

With a yellow polish as the base color, paint a white zig-zag line going across the nail about halfway on the nail. I used Apple Barrel’s “White” acrylic paint and Winstonia’s “Short” striping brush.

IMG_1702

Fill in one side of the line. I used Winstonia’s “Fine Line” to do this.

IMG_1704

Place two black dots for the eyes higher up on the yellow half of the nail. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear “Black Out” and small sized dotting tool.

IMG_1706

Then paint a small orange upside down triangle below the black eyes. I used Jenna Hipp’s “Creme de Cantaloupe” and Winstonia’s “Fine Line” brush.

IMG_1708

Spring Floral Nails:

On a base color of your choice, paint different kinds and colors of flowers all over the nail. I started off by painting a light pink flower by creating painting pointed oval shapes in a circle. I used Delta Ceramcoat’s “Hydrangea Pink” acrylic paint and Winstonia’s “Fine Line” brush.

IMG_1710

Then, roughly and lightly outline that flower in a darker pink and place a circle in the center and lightly drag in outwards toward the tip of the petals. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails “Heart of Stone” and Winstonia’s “Berry Wine” brush.

IMG_1712

For the next type of flower, place five dots around in a circle. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails “No Hard Feelings” and a medium sized dotting tool.

IMG_1714

Then, place a dot in the center of that flower. I used Jenna Hipp’s “Marshmallow Fondant” and a smaller dotting tool.

IMG_1716

For the next type of flower, I used the same “Fine Line” brush and Jenna Hipp’s “Creme de Cantaloupe” and painted a cross and then an X intersecting that cross.

IMG_1718

Then, place three very small dots in the center of that flower. I used the same white acrylic paint and a very small dotting tool.

IMG_1720

For the rest of this design, I repeated the same types of flowers in different colors, with some halfway off the nail and some overlapping.

Lastly, apply top coat over all of your nails. I used Essie’s “Gel-Setter” top coat.

St. Patrick’s Day Nails (Plaid and 3 leaf clovers)

1457903230023

Start off with a base coat, I used Essie’s “Grow Stronger” base coat.

IMG_1616

Paint all your nails a light green color, I used one of Sally Girl’s mini nail polishes that I sadly don’t have the name for and I applied three coats.

IMG_1618

With that same color and a striper brush, outline the grid. This is kind of hard to see in the picture. I used Winstonia’s “Long” brush.

IMG_1621

Using a darker green, outline every other square. I used another Sally Girl min that I do not have the name for.

IMG_1624

Then, fill in the outlined squares with the same darker green color. I used Winstonia’s “Fine Line” brush.

IMG_1626

With a green-yellow nail polish and a striper brush, create thin lines going down each row and column. I used Butter London’s “Wellies”.

IMG_1628

Ring Finger Nails:

Using a medium dotting tool and the same darker green polish, place two dots on the nail. You will need to make three clover leaves, one on each side and one above those, so leave enough space.

IMG_1629

With the same tools, connect these two dots with lines towards the middle of the nail.

IMG_1630

Create a small curved stem, I used the “Fine Line” brush again.

IMG_1633

Lastly, apply a top coat. I used Essie’s “Gel-Setter” top coat.

Easter Egg Nails

14572995678591457299681896

Start off with a base coat, I used Essie’s “Grow Stronger” base coat.

IMG_1478

Apply a white nail polish as a base color for all of your nails. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear “White On”.

IMG_1481

Pointer Finger Nails:

Using a pastel yellow and a detail brush, paint a squiggly line at the top and bottom of the nail and fill in the space above the top one and below the bottom one. I used Delta Ceramcoat’s “Yellow” acrylic paint mixed with Apple Barrel’s “White” acrylic paint and one of Winstonia’s “Berry Wine” brushes. Using the same color and a liner brush paint a thick line going across the middle of the nail. I used Winstonia’s “Medium” brush.

IMG_1486

Using a light orange, outline the areas in yellow using the same brushes. I used Craft Smart’s “Tangerine” acrylic paint.

IMG_1489

With a small dotting tool and the same orange color, paint a few dots going across the yellow squiggly section.

IMG_1492

In the white space, paint a few flowers by placing a small orange dot for the center and small yellow dots surrounding it.

IMG_1494

Middle Finger Nails:

The middle fingers are the same as the pointer fingers but using different colors.

Ring Finger Nails:

Paint to thick curved line on both sides of the nail, using the same striping brush and pastel yellow color.

IMG_1497

Using the same striping brush and orange color, paint a thin line going down the middle of these thicker yellow lines.

IMG_1499

Using a small dotting tool and the same yellow color, paint flowers in the remaining white are by dragging lines into one center area and place a small orange dot in the center. Using a fine line brush paint small leaves around these flowers by laying the tip of the brush down on the nail. I used Craft Smart’s “Light Green” acrylic paint and Winstonia’s “Fine Line” brush.

IMG_1501

Thumb Nails:

The thumb nails are done the same as the ring finger but using different colors.

Pinky Nails:

With a makeup sponge, sponge on some of the orange color at the top and bottom of the nails. (I used a Q-tip because I didn’t have a makeup sponge

IMG_1503

Repeat this process with the yellow color on top of the orange color.

IMG_1505

With a dark orange, create a small, four petal flower in the center of the white. I used the same “Fine Line” brush and Craft Smart’s “Tangerine” acrylic paint mixed with Apple Barrel’s “Bright Red” acrylic paint. To create the flower, use the same technique perviously used for the leaves, simply place the tip of the brush down on the nail.

IMG_1507

Using the same green color and small dotting tool, place a dot in the center of the petals. Then, using the “Berry Wine” brush, paint a cross going in between the petals.

IMG_1509

If you used acrylic paint, you can clean up around the nail using a Q-tip dipped in water. If you used nail polish you can clean up around the nail using a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover.

Lastly, apply a top coat. I used Essie’s “Gel-Setter” top coat.
