Start off with a base coat. I used Essie’s “Grow Stronger” base coat.
Apply a white nail polish as a base color. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear “White On”.
Then, with a few colors of your choice, (one at a time) dab the polish down on a surface. Thin the blob of polish with a brush dipped in nail polish remover and then place a small amount of polish on an area on the nail. Then, dip your brush in nail polish remover again (I put some nail polish remover in a glass dish) and lightly dab the brush over the colored polish are on the nail. Do this repeatedly to get the water color effect. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear “Blue Me Away!”, “Fuchsia Power”, and “Pep-Plum” and Emori’s Xtreme Wear “Evergreen” and Winstonia’s “Fine Line” brush.
With a black color, outline the entire shape of the nail. I did one side, the other side, then the top and the bottom. Take your time, it doesn’t need to look perfect because the shattered pieces will attract the most attention. I used Apple Barrel’s “Black” acrylic paint and Winstonia’s “Short” striping brush.
Using the same materials, great random shapes coming off of the outline. I created things like triangles, squares etc. really any shape with sides and corners works.
Lastly, apply a top coat and clean up around the nails if needed. I used Essie’s “Gel-Setter” top coat and Born Pretty Store’s “Nail Polish Remover Pen”.
Your Water Colored Shattered Pieces Nails are finished!
