Start off with a base coat, I used Revlon’s “Quick Dry Base Coat.”
Then, paint your nails with the colors of your choice. I went with my school colors, so I painted my ring finger yellow so that I could make a navy blue cap (just like the navy blue cap I will be wearing) and painted the rest of my nails navy blue. I used Maybelline’s Color Show “Fierce N Tangy” for my ring finger and Julep’s “Ilsa” for the rest of my nails.
To paint the cap, use a small detail brush and the opposite of the color that was used for the base. Start of by painting a diamond in the upper center of the nail. I used Winstonia’s “Berry Wine”.
Then, paint two small lines coming down from that diamond.
Connect those lines with a small curved line.
Paint a small line coming off one of the sides and on the end of that line paint frayed edges.
Place a small dot in the center of the diamond using a small dotting tool and then add a line from the dot to connect it to the tassel.
For the rest of the nails, add stripes of the opposite color. I used Winstonia’s “Fine Line” and Apple Barrel’s “Yellow” acrylic paint.
On the middle and ring finger, depending on which hand, on one paint “Class of” and the other “2016” or whatever year fits. I used the same “Berry Wine” brush and Apple Barrel’s “White” acrylic paint.
Lastly, apply a top coat, I used Revlon’s “Extra Life No Chip Top Coat.”
