Hi everyone! This tutorial is for birthday party hat nails for my birthday coming up this week! All products are listed below. I hope you all enjoy!
Start off with a base coat. I used China Glaze’s “Strong Adhesion Base Coat.”
Apply a base color of your choice, I used Forever 21’s “Rose Petal.”
With some colors of your choice and a stripe brush paint triangles on the nail with the tip pointing towards the cuticle. I used Winstonia’s “Short” striper brush, Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails in “Heart of Stone”, “No Hard Feelings”, “Hard Bitten”, Jenna Hipp’s “Creme de Cantaloupe”, “Marshmallow Fondant”, and Sally Girl mini no name 812165.
Then, with some darker shades of the same colors, paint patterns in the triangles such as stripes and polka dots and then outline the hat/triangle. I used the same striper brush, Winstonia’s “Berry Wine” brush, Wet n Wild’s Megalast in “Mallrat”, Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in “Pep-Plum”, “Blue Me Away!”, Finger Paints “Tangerine Tint”, Maybelline’s “Fierce N Tangy”, and Jordana’s “Key Lime.”
With an Xs dotting tool, place four or five dots at the top of the triangle/hat with the lighter shades.
Lastly, apply a top coat, I used China Glaze’s “No Chip Top Coat.”
**Sorry for the late uploads this week and last week, I have been struggling with my wifi, I should be back on track this Sunday!**
Start off with a base coat, I used Revlon’s “Quick Dry Base Coat.”
Apply a base color of your choice, I used Forever 21’s “Rose Petal.”
Cake Nails (Thumb Nail):
Create an oval towards the tip of the nail with a detail brush and white acrylic paint or polish. I used Winstonia’s “Berry Wine” brush and Apple Barrel’s “White” acrylic paint.
Outline that oval shape with small dots and a color of your choice. I used a small dotting tool and Wet n Wild’s Megalast “Mallrat.”
Fill in the rest of the tip with the same tools used to create the oval.
Add stripes in the remaining tip area with a striping brush and another color of your choice. I used Winstonia’s “Short” brush and Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails “Heart of Stone.”
Create a few candles with the same color as those stripes and the detail brush. I did this by painting one line and gradually making it thicker so it became a rectangle shape.
Paint curved stripes on these candles with the same detail brush and the same color as the dots on the cake.
Start creating the flames by adding a small dot at the top of each candle. I used Maybelline’s “Fierce n Tangy” and a small dotting tool.
Add a point to the flames at the top of the dot with the same detail brush and yellow color.
Add a similar shape in the center of the yellow with an orange color. I used Jenna Hipp’s “Creme de Cantaloupe.”
The cake nail is finished!
Cupcake Nail (Pointer Fingernail):
Paint a squared off tip with the color of your choice and the detail brush. (The colors I am using have already been mentioned above if not mentioned now).
Then paint vertical stripes with another color of your choice and a striping brush.
With a medium sized dotting tool and another color, paint the frosting by adding dots along the horizontal part of the tip, then up in a triangle shape and fill it in.
With the same dotting tool, add a red dot at the top of the frosting as the cherry. I used Kleancolor’s “Red Alert.”
With about 6 colors of your choice (1 of them being the lighter one already used for the wrapping) place small dots as sprinkles onto the icing. I used a small dotting tool and Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails “No Hard Feelings”, and “Hard Bitten”, Sally Girl mini (no name), and Jenna Hipp’s “Marshmallow Fondant.”
The cupcake nail is finished!
Balloon Nail (Middle Fingernail):
With the same six colors, place large dots starting at the cuticle area then going downward.
With darker shades of each and a detail brush, outline each circle. I used a Sephora mini (no name), Jordana’s “Key Lime”, Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear “Blue me Away”, and Tip Toe’s “Orengentina.”
Using the same tools, paint a squiggly line coming down from each circle and a small triangle at the top of each string.
The balloon nail is finished!
Present Nail (Ring Fingernail)
With two of the lighter colors previously used and the detail brush, paint a rectangle and a square going halfway off the sides of the nail.
Outline each shape with the darker shade but not the bottom or the side that is going off of the nail.
With the same darker shade, paint a line going horizontally across the box and one going vertically but this one should be slightly off center.
Paint the bow by adding a curved line coming from the top of the box and off both sides of the vertical line and then two loops above that.
The present nail is finished!
Confetti Nail (Pinky Fingernail):
With a small dotting tool and the lighter shades, place dots all over the nail.
With the darker shades and a detail brush paint dashes and curved lines with loops in the middle.
The confetti nail is finished!
Lastly, apply top coat to all of the nails. I used Revlon’s “Extra Life No Chip Top Coat.”
